A more complex, elegant three column layout:

• The banner has a background image and text
• Beneath the banner is a navigation bar with 'drop down' menus.
• The left sidebar has roll over images. A little slower than css buttons, but prettier.
• The middle has the main content.
• The right sidebar can contain contact information, logos or advertising.
• The footer contains simple contact information on a plain background.
• There are thin borders dividing the sections.

Note that the 'drop down' menus are activated by JavaScript. While JavaScript is the dominant scripting language on the Web, over 10% of Web users have JavaScript disabled in their browsers. The menu system is very good, but there must be a 'fall back' navigation system for non-JavaScript users. For a larger site the advantages of JavaScript menus may well exceed the disadvantages.
