Web Design Training
There are two levels for Web Design.
The foundation level offers enough skills to produce and maintain a simple personal or brochure Web site. An advanced course can be offered, if there is enough demand, which equips participants with the skills to take the relevant Web certification. Training can be offered using Macromedia DreamWeaver or Microsoft FrontPage.
Throughout there is an emphasis on understanding HTML, because to become productive participants will find it easier if proficient in reading HTML.
The Web Standards course will not depend on using any particular HTML editor. The techniques can be applied to the preferred editor used by participants. If you haven't done any hand coding this is not for the feint hearted, but should be very rewarding. This is where modern Web design is at.
As an experiment, the Web Design course has been offered using NVU HTML Editor. This program is Open Source and is therefore free for anyone to use. For individuals it has the power of early versions of Dreamweaver and is based on modern Web Standards concepts. Conversion to commercial programs is easy once the basic concepts have been learnt.
